Day 01

Ha Noi Arrival Ha Long Overnight on Cruise

Welcome to Hanoi, the capital of Vietnam and a bustling metropolis rich in history and culture. Pick up at Noi Bai Airport and transfer to Ha Long Bay (en route enjoy breakfast)—the pride of the Gulf of Tonkin, a Natural World Heritage site recognized by UNESCO in 1994 and 2006. Upon arrival at the cruise port, receive a warm welcome from cruise staff and complete check-in for the overnight cruise to discover the magnificent beauty of this “Descending Dragon” bay, formed by thousands of odd-shaped limestone rocks and karst grottoes. After lunch on board, visit grottos, stop for swimming or kayaking, pass floating houses, and approach islets to admire their beauty up close. Return to the cruise in the afternoon for a cooking demonstration before dinner, then attend evening activities on the boat or relax at leisure. Overnight on the cruise. Note: The program may vary slightly depending on the cruise; a stationed English-speaking guide is on board, only local/international food is available, cruise programs may differ between vessels, and lunch and dinner follow the cruise program.

Day 02

Ha Long - Ha Noi Half-Day City Tour Train Street

Wake up early to enjoy the dawn on the sea in the early morning—the Vietnamese call the “East Sea” by the point-oriented name “Eastern Sea,” revealing how miraculous it is to witness the sunrise over the bay’s islets. After breakfast, the boat continues cruising through marvelous areas where nearly every islet bears a name inspired by its shape, such as Sail Island, Fisherman’s Head Rock, Butterfly Rock, or Turtle Islet; check out of your room and enjoy brunch on board as the cruise returns to the pier. Note: Cruise programs may differ between vessels, with brunch served on board.* Disembark from the cruise and transfer back to Hanoi, where in the afternoon you will visit Ba Dinh Square, the largest square in Hanoi and the site of the city’s biggest cultural and political events, taking photos of the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum from the outside. Head to West Lake and Tran Quoc Pagoda, spending about 45 minutes at Hanoi’s oldest pagoda, then explore the unique residential area along Hanoi Train Street right next to the railway, where narrow streets require locals to safeguard their pets, vehicles, and belongings every time the train passes while maintaining normal daily lives on both sides of the road—discovering this will surprise you with the peace and calm attitude of residents living beside the tracks. Afterward, walk around Hoan Kiem Lake, a picturesque lake in the heart of Hanoi home to numerous temples and pagodas, popular among locals and tourists alike, before taking a leisurely stroll through the Old Quarter, a fascinating network of narrow alleys and shophouses known as “The 36 Streets,” each named after the merchandise traditionally sold there. Transfer to the hotel for check-in, with dinner at an Indian restaurant, and overnight in Hanoi.

Day 03

Next, visit Tam Coc via a 1.5-hour bamboo boat ride, where you are surprised by the charming beauty of paddy fields, river, water, clouds, sky, and stunning cave systems that form a masterpiece Vietnamese people call “Halong Bay on land.” Return to the car to head back to Hanoi, arriving and getting dropped off at the hotel for overnight stay, with dinner at an Indian restaurant.

Next, transfer to Cam Thanh village and Bay Mau coconut forest, experiencing traditional ways of life with a bamboo basket boat tour through the coconut groves, learning to paddle a traditional boat, trying to catch fish and shrimp using traditional techniques, relaxing amid peaceful countryside views, and observing local artisans weave baskets and mats from coconut leaves and natural materials (with a chance to try making your own). Afterward, transfer to Hoi An Ancient Town to immerse in its magical Oriental world, walking over the Japanese Bridge, visiting Chinese Assembly Halls and ancient houses, listening to folk music at old club-houses, or strolling into the market by the Thu Bon River—feeling the same inspiration as artists drawn to its rooftops. The rest of the time is free for shopping in Hoi An, legendary for affordable yet quality tailoring services, with streets lined by shop houses and stalls selling handicrafts, jewelry, traditional apparel, and shoes, plus a central marketplace bustling with locals bargaining for fresh produce and foodstuffs; in the evening, the town becomes magical, bathed in warm yellow light from lanterns hanging from shophouses amid sounds of music and laughter.
